Good introductory text for understanding RCS.

Research Methods
A Great Learning ToolOne of the things I found most helpful was the fact that each chapter begins with a list of key points to be presented in the chapter. These were a great help in keeping focused during the reading. I think anyone who bothered to do them would also find the questions at the end of each chapter to be very helpful. I tried to answer them regurlarly when preparing for tests found that they thoroughly covered the important material. Those along with the publisher's website were my key to success in the class I took. The final chapters do a good job of explaining statistics needed to write a research report (although I think a class in statistics is needed to really understand everything). There is also a complete, annotated research report at the end of the book which I also found very helpful (more helpful than the sample report provided in the APA style manual).

Just starting to readA rumor of War takes you deeper, looking at things from the begining where it all started with the creation and the falling of satan from Heaven.
Although I am only in the early stage of the book my soul is hungry for the food that our fathers are interpreting and delivering the message through this book.
Being a Russian Orthodox and getting back to my faith after the parting of my mother late last year. It is an unbeleivable feeling to re-new and deepen the faith and the relationship with God.
I will be posting a complete review after I finish reading it.
Thank you Dennis for your inspirational writings.
A Peace of mind for the Heart and SoulOur Soul searches for nourishment every day and many times the type of nourishment that we find is not the right kind to easy the hunger of the soul. But A Rumor of WAR finds the proper portion in fullfiling the hunger and replaces the hunger with hope and faith through salvation of our spiritual life.
It puts questions of the faith in perfect harmony, it opens up your HEART to show us what really is our purpose here on earth.
It makes sure that we don't get deceived by the new wave pre- trib teachings of todays churches, it focuses on the teachings of our fathers and it opens our understanding of the material presented in A Rumor of WAR.
A must Read for anyone in search and whos SOUL is hungering for the truth. I only wish that there was a way that Dennis E. Engleman could some how put his work of the books into a series of videos or a mini - series type like a movie to show the people the real way of things to come and open up their eyes and heart by saving them from the false teachings that are going on out there in our World.
Thank you very much Dennis for your books, please continue to feed our souls, for the hunger is always there! Amen

A new challenge!
Challenging fun!

THE SECRET INTELLIGENCE FILES OF THE VATICAN
true and tragic political history.

Nice little book with 3 well-covered topicsThe first chapter ("The Standard Model") is probably included just for comparison to the statistical model, so it's a bit surprising to find the good coverage of the Chart Parsing there.
If you are interested in some of the 3 topics mentioned above, consider buying this book. Don't forget that it's been written in 1993 (so it's pretty old). For this reason (or maybe others) it is less known that other similar writings in the field, so you may also surprise some of your colleagues with it :-)
Brilliant introduction to the subjectJuntung Wu University College (University of Oxford) Oxford, England

Man let's down his fig leaf, at last.
General ReviewThis book is informative, full of wit, every Man and Woman should read it and find out how to connect to this power Eugene exposes in the Upright Man.

Great Book!
A Most Amusing Book

Shakespeare's FinestHamlet's dilemma is often seen as typical of those whose thoughtful nature prevents quick and decisive action.
Hamlet contains several fine examples of soliloquy, such as " To be or not to be" and Hamlet's earlier speech lamenting his mother's hasty remarriage and Claudius' reign which opens "O! that this too too solid flesh would melt". Much quoted lined "Neither a borrower nor a lender be", "Something is rotten in the stste of Denmark", "Brevity is the soul of wit", "To sleep: perchance to dream: ay, there's the rub;" The lady doth protest too much, methinks," and "Alas, poor Yorick". Arguably Shakespeare's finest play and one that can be read again and again.
Hamlet : Folger Library editionThe Folger Edition of Hamlet is a great edition to buy, especially for those who are studying this play in high school or college, because it is relatively cheap in price and is very "reader-friendly" with side notes and footnotes that accompany each page of each scene. So, even if you aren't a Shakespeare lover or if Shakespeare is just a little intimidating (we all know how this feels), this version at least allows you to get the gist of what is going on. Also, there are summaries of each scene within each act, to let you know in layman's terms what is taking place. I highly recommend this edition.
What Is The Meaning of Hamlet? The text notes that are included with the play are very helpful to understand some of the more difficult language nuances that are inevitable with any Shakespeare. The structure is well laid out and conclusive. It complements the complexity of Hamlet very well.
Of course Hamlet is one of the great paradoxes and mysteries every written. The search of finding yourself and what it is that fuels the human spirit. Hamlet can be a very confusing play because of the depth of substance. However, the critical essays that suppliment the reading make it very accessable.
Each of the critical essays are of different schools of literary criticism: Feminist Criticism, psychoanalytic criticism, post-structuralist (deconstuctionist) criticism, Marxist critism, and finally a New Historicist criticism. Before each critism there is clearly written introduction to explain the motives and histories of that type of criticism.
This edition of Hamlet will not only introduce the reader to more Shakespeare, but also explain the play and help to familiarize the reader with literary criticism too. It is a beautiful volume that cannot be more recommended if you are wanting to buy a copy Hamlet.

A worthy book, but misrepresents both Zen Buddhism & Kyudo.
Achieving your goal without effort (and a quick read too!)The author is able to transport the reader to a Japanese archery range through prose that places the bow in one's hand and mind. The descriptions are powerful, yet subtle. You see the target. You can feel the taught string yearning to be set free from your grasp and let fly the arrow to its home. Herrigel translates Zen philosophy into the actions of your hands, that are linked to your mind, that is linked to arrow, that is linked to the target, and back again. It is this innocuous connection to everything outside the body that Herrigel aptly writes in a way that almost indirectly explains what Westerners have attempted to define in innumerous ways, but never quite understood.
This will make your commute tolerable! The ultimate challenge Eugen faces ends up being the smooth release of the bowstring and arrow without conscious intent, "like the ripe fruit falls from the tree", "like a baby's hand releases one object to grasp another", "like the bamboo leaf slowly bends under the weight of the snow, then releases the clump of snow without thought". Eugen, during a summer sabbatical, develops a "technique" that he believes will solve this problem and nearly gets himself thrown out of the program for "offending the Spirit of Zen". There is also an interesting account of an after-hours meeting where his teacher gives an amazing demonstration of quiet mastery in order to raise Eugen's morale and level of understanding.
I had read the book several times and decided to get the tape to listen to while driving. Ralph Blum's sonorous voice is perfect for the reading and I enjoyed listening to the book as much or more than reading it. There is much that this presentation has to offer and its message will live in your heart for a long time.
